Target audiences

For this SEO assignment, I considered three main audiences for the AdVantage website:

  • Service-based SMEs in Romania
    Local clinics, beauty salons, legal practices, home services and similar businesses that need a consistent flow of leads from online advertising but do not have in-house expertise.
  • Romanian e-commerce brands
    Online shops that want to increase revenue profitably across Google, Meta and TikTok and need help with campaign strategy, structure and optimisation.
  • B2B companies in Romania and CEE
    SaaS and professional service providers that rely on qualified leads and longer sales cycles, and require performance-focused campaigns and clear measurement.

Chosen audience for this SEO research

For the purposes of this assignment I am focusing on:

Service-based SMEs in Romania – owners and marketing managers of small and medium-sized Romanian businesses who are searching in English for a reliable digital marketing / PPC agency in Romania to manage Google Ads, Meta Ads and TikTok Ads on their behalf.

Website objectives

The keyword research is aligned with three core website objectives:

 

  • Generate qualified enquiries for AdVantage
    Encourage visitors to request proposals and book strategy calls.
    KPIs: contact form submissions, email enquiries, booked calls.

 

  • Position AdVantage as a trusted performance marketing partner
    Communicate expertise, particularly our background working with Google and Meta.
    KPIs: time on site, pages per session, case-study views, returning visitors.

 

  • Educate the market about multi-channel performance marketing
    Explain how Google Ads, Meta Ads and TikTok Ads can work together to drive measurable growth.
    KPIs: blog/article views, scroll depth, internal link clicks.

 

The keywords therefore need to combine clear commercial intent (“agency”, “services”, “management”) with Romanian location signals (“Romania”, “Bucharest”).

Tools and method

I used SEMrush to carry out the keyword research.

Keyword Magic Tool (Romania database)   

                                                                             

    • Database: Romania (RO)

    • Initial “seed” terms included: digital marketing agency romania – online marketing agency romania – google ads agency romania –  ppc agency romania – facebook ads agency romania –  tiktok ads agency romania – online advertising agency romania.

    • Match type: Broad Match, then refined with filters such as agency, romania, bucharest, google ads, facebook ads, tiktok ads, ppc.

    • Irrelevant terms (e.g. jobs, courses, salaries) were excluded.

Competitor analysis – Data Revolt and WebDigital

To understand how established Romanian agencies attract traffic, I also analysed two key competitors: Data Revolt and WebDigital.

    • In SEMrush Organic Research / Keyword Gap, I compared AdVantage’s target keywords with the domains of these competitors.

    • This helped identify:

      • Keywords where both competitors already rank strongly (high competition).

      • Gaps and long-tail opportunities that are relevant for AdVantage but less saturated.

    • This competitor lens was used alongside search volume and relevance to prioritise the final keyword set.

Based on brainstorming, SEMrush suggestions and competitor analysis, I grouped potential keywords into three categories:

Final chosen keywords

I selected three primary phrases for my SEO focus article ( “About Us” Page):

  • marketing agency

  • social media marketing

  • digital marketing agency 

 

 

Rationale – “marketing agency”

  • Highest overall search volume in my set.

  • Captures broad “I need an agency” intent at the start of the research journey.

 

Rationale – “social media marketing”

  • Strong volume and directly linked to our Meta and TikTok services.

  • Attracts businesses specifically interested in growing via social platforms.

 

Rationale – “digital marketing agency”

  • Directly matches AdVantage’s core positioning as a full-service digital partner (Google Ads, Meta, TikTok and wider paid media).
  • High commercial intent: people searching this are typically looking to hire an agency, not just learn about marketing.
  • Works well alongside the other two keywords by covering broader “digital” needs while marketing agency captures generic agency searches and social media marketing captures channel-led intent.

 

Together, these three terms capture general agency demand, social-first marketing needs, and high-intent searches for digital marketing support.
